Carlo Guarguaglini the hotels proprietor raced professionally
in the late 50's and early 60's, racing in the same team as Charlie
Gaul.
Today the hotel is a reference point known and appreciated by
numerous professional teams who come here for winter and spring
training sessions. It is also valued by amateurs and cycle tourists
who find our location, the family atmosphere, the hospitality
and our enthusiasm for cycling all add up to the perfect cycling
holiday.
The hotel is in the heart of the Etruscan coast, offering rides
along the coast, routes passing through the "Metalifere" hills
between Volterra and Masa Marittima, journeys through the wildness
of the Maremma and trips down the culture highway of the Strada
del Vino. |

Amongst the teams who choose Zi'Martino are Motorola with world
champion Armstrong, Lampre with Simoni and Camenzind (another
world champion) and Rabobank from Boogerd.
Amongst our regular clientele we are pleased to number Andy Hampsten
and Davis Phinney.
| Andy Hampsten:
"As a racer, bike tourist and adopted 'Castagnetano' I come to
Zi'Martino because I feel at home here. This is where we get together
to start our days ride as the roads around here are the best. |

Connie Carpenter:
Well, we do come here to enjoy the perfect cycling conditions,
but really it's the wonderful hotel and Guarguaglini family that
make the trips here complete. |

Maurizio Fondriest:
"I found out about this hotel when I was preparing for the '93
season, the best yet (23 victories) in my career. Since then the
hotel has been basecamp to Lampre for our winter and spring training.
The roads are wonderful especially from a technical point of view
and you can train in complete safety thanks to the almost total
absence of traffic. |
 |
Paolino Bettini:
" A slogan for this hotel, cycling 12 months of the year! It's
never to cold, it doesn't rain much, and the cycling is pleasant
even in winter. Beautiful place and a great hotel for cyclists
Gilberto Simoni:
"The roads here offer bewitching panoramas of the real tuscany.
You can pedal for miles without seeing a car. You can enjoy yourself
here, the route from Castagneto through Sasetta to Suvereto is
technically perfect, and to come back to Zi'Martinos at the end
of a long ride is a delight.
